we were so enthusiastic about the chilli & pepper crabs that we forgot to take photos of the "star" dishes!!

earlier that day, our day3 sweet basil sprouts appeared (pic below)...

honestly, i don't remember taking these photos. i don't remember much of school. i do remember some of these beautiful faces & a blurry, foggy idea of what we were like in school... and that alone is really SOMETHING TO REMEMBER!

no.27 food diary 10 jun 2011

food cravings for the week, june 2011...

the simple chicken macaroni soup

- spring onions (chang), cilantro (wang sui), chinese parsley (kng chye), tang chye (salted pickle), bawang goreng (fried small red shallots)

we also had home-made apple crumble...

jannah's announcement:

"aidan! christen! the crumbly apple is READY!!"

above: jannah watching the apple crumble bake in the turbo oven... getting impatient when the smell of melting butter and baking crumble fills the kitchen. keeps asking "are we there yet?" LOL

apple crumble recipe

apple stew

- apples - sliced

- lemon juice/rind

- orange juice/rind

- sugar

crumble

- 1 cup butter

- 2 cups flour

- 2 cups cornflakes, or oats

- 1 cup sugar (i like to mix white & brown sugar)

- a squirt of honey

- a pinch of salt

how to:

1. cook apples with lemon & orange juice/rind & sugar - stew till a preferred texture

2. mix crumble ingredients together (jannah does this like an expert!!!)

3. top crumble mix above stewed apples in a baking tray

4. bake 150 degrees, 30-45min or until golden brown

pisang goreng!!! (fried banana fritters)

favourite bananas used - pisang rajah or pang chior

mix/mash:

- bananas - mashed

- gula melaka

- flour

deep fry mix in hot oil till golden brown & crisp!

no.26 moving house

it began on 18 may 2011.

chit chatting to housing agent at my door... the next day, only one house viewing and got my first offer for rent. tenancy agreement signed 23 may 2011. move in day 1 jun 2011.

i've 8-10 days to pack and go!!!
